About The Canine Code & Louis W. Robinson

Welcome to The Canine Code. My name is Louis W. Robinson, and my mission is to give you the tools to create a cooperative, obedient, and well-mannered dog without sacrificing its individual personality.

My journey into the world of canine behavior began in an environment where failure was not an option: the United States Air Force. As a Military Working Dog Handler, I was entrusted with the immense responsibility of bomb detection. This role taught me the core principles of high-level training in agility, patrol, and scent detection, where clarity, consistency, and a deep understanding of dog psychology were paramount.

After my service, I knew I wanted to bring this level of expertise to the public. In 2007, I founded Robinson Dog Training, initially specializing in the powerful working breeds I knew best—German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dobermans, and Rottweilers—often tackling advanced training needs and complex behavioral challenges that others couldn't. Over the years, we've expanded to help owners of all breeds, because the foundational principles of canine psychology are universal.

This real-world experience is distilled into my book, "F.I.D.O. Fundamentals In Dog Obedience," now in its third edition. My commitment extends beyond private training; as the founder of the Service Dog Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, I am dedicated to helping fellow veterans access trained service dogs.

The Canine Code is the next evolution of this mission. It's a resource where I can share my decades of experience with a wider audience. I believe a breakdown in communication is the root of most owner-dog frustration. Here, we will fix that. We will decode your dog’s behavior and give you a clear path forward.
